French Dunes

Walking along the Dunes du Pilat in the evening sun. Photo credit Kai Veal.

Whilst filming, the wind on the dunes was making the harmonics on the guitar ring out. Beautifully eerie.

‘French Dunes’ is the second single that will feature on the upcoming album Urban Tales. I travelled down to the Dunes du Pilat on the western coast of France by car with filmmaker Kai Veal and we captured the entire trip on film. We drove from London to Portsmouth, took the ferry to Caen and continued the journey down from there, stopping off at the beautiful Mont Saint Michel on the way. We spent a night in Bordeaux, and after being rained out in the early hours of the first filming session on the Dunes (drenched more like), the sun finally showed its face and we managed to get some beautiful afternoon/evening shots.

Three days filming/travelling, very little sleep, very wet, but what an adventure it was.

The sentiment behind the video is the yearning for escapism from the mundane and the need for reflection on childhood trauma. More details coming from this in the upcoming months… I am very proud of this song/video and can’t wait to finally get it out to the world.
